ONE MORE WEBSITE

When I was working on the Means of Grace site, I thought about the need to update it with news. Then when I had trouble managing 420 files, I decided a separate site would be easier to manage.

I hope everyone who was grousing about my non-working sites is now full of remorse, contrition, and humility. I caught up with most of my website work and then found out that Cybercities would return in a few days. That’s OK for backup but maybe I don’t think they will make it in the long run, after my experience with them. I had a bunch of sites and they all went down at once.

I am one of those who thinks that having a generic pan-denominational tabloid is not really useful for Lutherans. Why not subscribe to Christianity Today? It is also generic, liberal, and rather tedious. CT was going to save everyone from liberalism, just like Christian News. Now both are as reliable as a news bulletin from the National Council of Churches.

So the new site is Lutheran News. Here is the address:

http://www.httpcity.com/lutherannews/

It will be a fairly small website, so I can update the headline articles frequently and easily. I will take the current headlines and shrink them, then add new stories.

Someone wrote and offered the opinion that a letters section could be included. I will do that if I get some good letters to reproduce. You can send them as email, but an attached file in MS Word is easier to convert to HTML.

You can also send me news. I am not going to run anything unless it is proven in some reasonable fashion. WELS has a tactic used in secular politics – They put out a false story so they can brand anyone who repeats it as a liar. I have had that attempted more than once. If it is interesting, there will be some evidence in print. I need that.

I hope the site helps. I realize that the headlines are not new to my readers. But it is a way of storing some of the recent news events. I know that many of you lose email as easily as I do. I now have 15 handy folders to sort and lose email in. It’s easier to find material on a website.

I should get the Means of Grace site improved a little soon. I am learning how to tweak a site without a lot of effort. Some previous attempts wrecked a site until I removed everything. But I am learning by doing.

We have to keep ourselves informed and stick to the facts.

Happy New Year. We had a wonderful Christmas.

In Christ,
